17th Annual KAFP Resident Scholarly Poster Exhibits

At the September Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians annual meeting, two resident posters from Madisonville tied for first place among 22 submissions. Drs. Cody Tucker and Ben Barbee's submission summarized an innovative video to help patients understand what was needed for cancer prevention. Drs. Uqba and Madeeha Ahmed submitted a poster summarizing a case that was presumed to be a simple lung cancer that turned out to be something very different.

Cody Tucker, MD
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville
Cody Tucker, MD grew up in rural West Kentucky. He is a 10-year veteran of the United States Air Force before completing his undergraduate degree at Excelsior College and medical education at the University of Louisville Trover Campus in Madisonville. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY, graduating in July 2025. Dr. Tucker currently practices full-time in the emergency department, where he thoroughly enjoys the challenges and rewards of acute care. Additionally, Dr. Tucker is a member of the US Army reserves in hopes to pursue aviation medicine.
Benjamin Barbee, MD, PGY-2
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville
Ben Barbee, MD is from Indio, California. He completed his undergraduate education through Pepperdine University with a B.S. in Sports Medicine and completed his medical education through American University of Antigua College of Medicine. He is a member of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY where he currently serves as a PGY-2 Education Chief. Dr. Barbee plans to specialize in outpatient family medicine with a passion for holistic patient-centered care. Dr. Barbee also has a special interest in sports medicine and lifestyle medicine.

Uqba Ahmed, MD
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville
Uqba Ahmed, MD is from Toronto, Ontario. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and earned his medical degree from Caribbean Medical University. He is currently a PGY-3 in the Family Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Dr. Ahmed has a strong interest in outpatient family medicine and values patient-centered care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing soccer, working out, astronomy, home renovation projects, and exploring nature. He especially cherishes time spent with his wife, daughter, family, and friends.
Madeeha Ahmed, MD
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville
Madeeha Ahmed, MD is from Dallas, Texas. She completed her undergraduate studies at Sam Houston State University in Houston and received her medical degree from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. She is currently a PGY-3 resident in the Family Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Dr. Ahmed is passionate about comprehensive, compassionate care and is particularly drawn to preventative medicine and women’s health. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing the violin and piano, exploring new cuisines, karaoke, astronomy, working out, and spending time with her husband and loved ones.

Ali Khan, MD is a Kentucky native who graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He is currently a member of the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Kentucky Lexington campus where he serves as a PGY-3 resident. His goals currently focus on primary care with specialization in HIV management for underserved populations.
Melissa Delaney, MD, PGY-3

Melissa Delaney, MD is originally from East Tennessee. She completed her medical education at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is currently a 3rd year resident with the University of Kentucky Family and Community Medicine Residency Program. She plans to practice outpatient primary care, with an interest in women's health.

Davis Ranburger, DO, PGY-3

Davis Ranburger, DO, MS, MS, is originally from Owensboro, Kentucky. At Western Kentucky University (WKU), in Bowling Green, Kentucky, he completed his Undergraduate and began Graduate education with dual Bachelor's Degrees in Biology and Chemistry, 2017, and a Master's Degree in Chemistry, 2019, with a focus in "Green" Organic Chemistry. He also completed a Master's Degree in Biomedical Sciences, 2020, with the Western University College of Biomedical Sciences in Pomona, California, with a focus on Mouse-Models for repetitive traumatic brain injuries. His medical education was completed at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. Dr. Ranburger is a current PGY3 and Co-Chief Resident for the University of Kentucky Family and Community Medicine Residency in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Ranburger plans to pursue a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Primary Care Sports Medicine with interests in point-of-care ultrasound, sideline coverage, and advanced musculoskeletal procedures.
Eric Vogt, MD, PGY-3

Eric Vogt, MD was raised in Mayfield, KY. He attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate education where he got his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry. Dr. Vogt attended medical school at the University of Kentucky and stayed in Lexington for his Family Medicine Residency. He currently is a PGY-3 and Co-Chief resident. He has an interest in continuing his training with a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the conclusion of his residency training.
